Una cometa (*) es una víctima, de ello estás seguro.
La amas porque tira
lo suficientemente suave como para llamarte amo,
lo suficientemente fuerte como para llamarte imbécil;
porque vive
como un desesperado halcón entrenado
en el alto y dulce aire,
que tú siempre puedes bajar
para domarlo en tu cajón.
Una cometa es un pez que ya has atrapado
en una charca a la que no llegan peces,
y así juegas con cuidado largo tiempo,
con la esperanza de que no se rinda,
ni de que el viento se extinga.
Una cometa es el último poema que has escrito,
y que entregas al viento,
pero que no dejas ir
hasta que alguien te encuentre
otra cosa que hacer.
Una cometa es un contrato de gloria
que se debe contraer con el sol,
así te haces amigo del campo
el río y el viento,
y te pasas rezando toda la fría noche anterior,
bajo la luna viajera sin hilo,
para hacerte digno, lírico y puro.

A kite is a victim you are sure of.

gentle enough to call you master,

to tame it in your drawer.
A kite is a fish you have already caught
in a pool where no fish come,

something else to do.

that must be made with the sun,
so you make friends with the field
